Ben Daugherty '19 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ben Daugherty and I am a rising junior at La Jolla Country Day School in San Diego California. Playing college basketball has always been my biggest goal. I understand the commitment and hours it takes to be a collegiate basketball player, and am fully dedicated to becoming the best player I can be. I believe my work ethic and drive to get better is what sets me apart from other players.

Basketball has always been a big part of my family.  My Grandfather Doc Daugherty was a division one player at Ohio University, and went on to coach at Euclid high school in Cleveland Ohio where he retired with the second most wins in Ohio high school basketball history. My dad Bob Daugherty was an all-state high school point guard and went on to play division one basketball at Harvard University.  Having both my grandpa and my dad as coaches and mentors has been a huge advantage.

In the game of basketball, I take pride in being a great teammate and a great leader more than anything else. As a point guard I try and lead by example and be the hardest working player on the floor. I feel my teammates enjoy playing with me and trust me on and off the court. I have taken away so many important lessons from being an athlete and hope to learn even more at the next level.
