I see my college years as a time to prepare myself for the rest of my life. My goal is to major in business. On the court I consider myself a leader and as a point guard, I'm an extension of my coaches on the floor. As I grow and develop, physically and mentally through my basketball career I will be a leader on the court, help make my teammates better, and do whatever I'm called on to help win games. Most importantly I will carry myself with respect and class on and off the court. I understand that the way I carry myself has a direct reflection on my team, coaches and school that I represent.
During my high school career I played varsity as a freshman at Tri County North. This is the school district for where I live. We won 1 game during my freshman season. 1-21.
As a sophomore, I transferred to the defending Ohio D4 State Champions, Tri Village High School. I played varsity and we won our league championship and went to the Sectional Finals. I came off the bench and was asked to help as a ball handler and to hit 3's.
As a junior at Tri Village, I was the starting point guard. We won the District Championship. As the point guard I was asked to set everyone on the team up. It's the first time in my life that I was not the primary scorer on the team. It was a change of mindset but I believe that I have a high basketball IQ and great court vision. I averaged 12 assists per game. I also scored 7 ppg but I rarely shot the ball. I felt like although I wasn't asked to score much I had a huge impact on every game. I was an all area selection and led the area in assists.
As a senior I have decided to come back home to Tri County North. I've always felt like I could help them turn their program around. My coach at Tri Village resigned, so I felt like it was the perfect time to transfer back home for my last year. I'm very excited for the challenge of helping turn a program around. They won only 4 games at Tri County North last year. I know that I'm going to have to help change their mindset, that we can win every game we are in. This summer we played in a varsity summer league, a team camp and a shootout. I led the team in scoring and assists. We went 17-2!!!!! We lost our first game of the summer, by just 2 points and they seemed like they were happy that we kept it close. I explained to them that close wasn't ok, that we can win every game we are in, and that I didn't come home to go 4-18. After that game we went 17-1, losing only to the Ohio D2 state runner up. I can't wait to see what we can accomplish together this season.
