I want to attend college and get a good education, first and foremost. I would like to eventually earn a Masters Degree. I have three older siblings that have graduated college and my mother and father both have advanced degrees. Both have worked in education for 35+ years. I know and respect the value of having an education and what it can do for me. I have seen the doors it has opened for other members of my family.
I would love to play basketball in college. I have worked hard at my game since I was very young. I have worked with a trainer on ball skills, conditioning, agilities, and shooting. The hard work has paid off as my game has elevated over the years as evidenced by being able to play Varsity all three years of high school, being a starter the past two years. I have led the team in several statistical categories and earned several post season awards. However, more importantly is the fact my team has been undefeated in League play the past two years and has an overall record of 45-4 the past two years. We have won two Sectional titles and been District Runner-Up during those years.
Hard work does not scare me and I am dedicated to the game. I play hard and love to have the ball in my hands at the end of the game. I love to step up when the pressure is on. I have been the leading Free Throw shooter, 3 point shooter (makes and %) on my team and coaches count on me to make those in crucial situations. I have been the point guard on my teams since 3rd grade, but have been spending time at the 2 guard over the course of the last year in high school and AAU in order to expand my game.
I have never had any discipline issues at school and have participated in other activities. I have ran cross country and done community service projects for school organizations, AAU Team, and high school team.
Academically, I am an "A" student (3.7 gpa) taking college prep courses during my freshman and sophomore years of high school. During my junior year (this past year) I took a full load of courses at Southern State Community College, earning both high school and college credit. I was named to the Dean's List at the college during the Spring Semester. I will graduate high school with enough college credits to earn an Associates Degree.
