My name is Allen Jr. Mutiganzi. I am a 6 '5, 195 pound, Small forward who can play both ends of the floor, rebound, facilitate for my teammates and bring a surge of energy on the basketball court. I have played basketball for 3 years, I started my journey trying out for my High School team and ended up getting cut the 3 years in a row. Despite that happening, my love for the game never faded and I continued to train myself day in day out. Eventually after high school I tried out for Burloak basketball in 2020 where I first developed my skills and understanding of the game. Through my dedication and hard work, I have developed a strong understanding of the game and honed my skills on the court, which allowed me to play college basketball at St. Lawrence College. This was a major step in my career because you don’t see players who did not play basketball in high school playing at the college level. During my time at St. Lawrence College, I gained more experience and understood the game even more by acknowledging that every player has to play a role in the team in order to win and hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard. This season taught me a lot about myself and how to be a good student athlete by attending class and always staying on top of homework assignments. I learned that school plays an important part just as much as basketball, learning the balance of the two was key. As a player, I am highly coachable and adaptable. I am always looking for ways to improve my game, and I am committed to putting in the time and effort necessary to do so. I am a team player who understands the importance of communication, cooperation, self sacrifice and trust on the court with fellow teammates. I am a player who shows his presence in the game by not just scoring and defending, but also by using my voice to communicate on defense and feed energy towards my teammates, which is something I pride myself in. I will always be the loudest person in the gym which is why my presence will always be solidified in the game. Despite all these things, what truly separates me from other players is my mentality and my resolve towards the game of basketball. I have always believed basketball is more than just a physical game, it also has a mental aspect to it which I thrive in due to the fact. I have tunnel vision no matter what situation I am put through, I will always find solutions to problems or any task at hand. Furthermore, I am willing to sacrifice my body on the court by making hustle plays, diving for loose balls, and taking charges which are things that are rarely seen nowadays in the game of basketball. I have aspirations of becoming a professional basketball player because that is the only thing I see myself doing. I will continue to work and pursue my dreams till they become my reality. I will also be ready and willing to sacrifice my holidays, personal times, as well as family time as and when needed and without any hesitation. To any coach reading, I want to assure them that, if you select me for your team you shall not regret it. I am a player you want on your team. I'm a guy who is competitive and shows effort and passion on the court everyday. I give 120% day in and day out and will always give it my all on the court. I prioritize my academics as much as basketball, all while being a good genuine person. I was raised in a Christian home and have been raised the right way, I know how to treat people with respect and compassion. Thank you for taking the time to read my commitment.
