My family is a very big influence on the person I have become. Being raised in a Christian family, I have learnt to be a respectful, God-fearing, humble, kind and honest young man,
My interest in basketball only started last year when I played in the house league, after which my coach recommended that I tried out for the competitive league. I tried out for that and the high school team and got accepted into both teams. Basketball has become a full-blown passion since then. I feel like I was born to be a basketball player, as I am blessed with both the body build and the skills to succeed in it. I have also learnt that to be successful, I have to be resilient and disciplined, and I am willing to give it my best shot.
At first, it felt like I was at a disadvantage when compared to my teammates, as I got introduced to the game relatively late. While a lot of the boys were working on more advanced skills, I had to start from scratch and work my way up with the help of my coaches and practising by myself. The results have been encouraging. I recently emerged as the winner of the Grade 10 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition in January 2020. I also won the Player of the Tournament Award for the MUMBA 2019/2020 tournament.
I know that I am still a work-in-progress, but I am confident that I am a player you will want on your team because I am teachable, passionate and committed.
