Jackson Bayles '18 Recruiting Profile

I've been playing team basketball since the age of 8.  I found my love for the game playing with a house league despite the hour drive, and things took off from there. In 2015 my club team, coached by my dad, finished top 10 in Ontario - a first for boys basketball in small town Brockville Ontario.  As a freshman, I started for my high school varsity team, and in 2016 led them to a top 8 finish in OFSSA - a level our school has never competed at. 

I differ from other recruits because of my excellent basketball IQ, shooting ability, hustle and work ethic. My consistency and range is what separates me from the rest. Even when having an off game shooting- or scoring-wise, I make up for it with rebounding and defense, controlling the flow of the game, and limiting turnovers. I have always put in hours of one-on-one basketball training,  attending countless camps in the summers, working with my dad on my shot, and working with personal fitness trainers in the off-season whenever possible. I've spent the last 9 years making a 3 hour round trip to play basketball in Ottawa, often up to four times a week. I've been fortunate to have parents and coaches that have supported my love for basketball. 

I have a highly competitive attitude and will settle for nothing less than perfection. I am considered a leader on the court, often quietly leading by example, but loud and encouraging when necessary.  I love to create on the court and be part of a team with great chemistry. I am very coachable and love to learn from my coaches and mentors. I am excited to play at the next level and contribute to my college team's success!
