I first started playing basketball in the seventh grade, but I really became serious about it my freshman year. It was that year that I truly discovered my passion for the game and manifested my dream of playing college ball. From that point on I committed myself to the pursuit of excellence both academically and athletically. My years of playing soccer prior to basketball indoctrinated me on the importance of teamwork and positive team culture.
As team captain my freshman and sophomore years I had the opportunity to discover and embrace my aptitude for leadership. I see myself as a confident but humble leader that can make a positive impact on your team.
In my sophomore year when Covid first hit, I discovered my ingenuity and dedication to continuing my practice in the face of many obstacles. I learned how to adapt and create opportunities for myself. This really took my commitment to a new level.
In my junior season, I learned how to play different roles and adapt myself to fill the team's needs. It really became apparent to me that basketball is as much of a mental sport as a physical one. I learned how to take losses in stride and transform criticism into motivation to work harder.
I take great pride in my work ethic and have been able to use that attribute and find balance in my life. My education and grades are extremely important to me and I have been able to maintain them and continue the pursuit of my athletic goals.
