Duncan Besch '22 Recruiting Profile

I am a 6'9", 210 lb Power Forward from Frederick, MD attending Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania. I strive to be a well-rounded student-athlete, and hope to focus on a prelaw track in college while also contributing all I can to my college's basketball program. I believe I can make an impact on a team by helping build team cohesion and providing encouraging leadership both on and off the court.

I am dedicated to improving my game, and currently commit at least 3 hours of extra daily practice time in addition to my 2 hours of school-scheduled sports time.  Unable to safely play team basketball due to the COVID-19 panemic, I focused on strenght training and basketball skills from March 2020 to March 2021 when I was able to return to in-person school.  During the summer of 2020, I completed ten PGC virtual basketball camps which helped focus my training efforts. I hope my strong work ethic, basketball skills, and both team building and leadership skills will contribute to my college basketball team.

I am looking an academically challenging college which will allow me to also play basketball at a high level. I am leaning towards a liberal arts college where the focus is on undergraduate teaching, and which has opportunities for undergraduate research to allow me to explore my areas of interest.  With a focus on pre-law, I am currently considering majors such as history, economics, and political science.  I believe a highly-selective academic college with a strong athletic program will be a good fit for me.
