Samuel Kelly '23 Recruiting Profile

I am a very hard-working, adaptable and focused basketball player. I currently am a senior at Allderdice High School where I start for the varsity team and was named one of the top 3 players on the all-city team.  In past seasons, I have rotated through all five positions depending on the our team and our competition. For both the high school and AAU seasons, I am working to expand my skills to become a stronger shooting forward, improving my jump shot and rebounding and strengthening my post play. 

Outside of my play and position, my biggest strengths are the intangible contributions that I make to every team on which I play. I am a strong and supportive player, and am working on becoming a more vocal court leader. I work very hard on the court and try adjust to my coach and my team to contribute however I can.  I want to set a good example for my teammates and make our team chemistry even better.  My high school team won the Pittsburgh City League championship this year, bringing the trophy back to the school after a three year absence. I was also captain of our volleyball team, winning  back-to-back City League championships and being named MVP of the league  

Off the court, I have participated in CISV, an international youth leadership organization since I was 7 years old, traveling to Germany and to Portugal as a representative of the United States along with students from all over the world. Beginning in kindergarten, I spent three years living in the Netherlands, which is where I started playing basketball with BC Kimbria in Maastricht.

My goal is to attend an academically challenging university where I can play basketball at a high level in a role that allows me to continue to develop my skills and contribute to a team’s success.
