My name is Jaden Orewiler. I am in the 11th grade at the Spring Grove School District in Spring Grove, PA and I love playing basketball. From the time I could walk, I was addicted to putting a ball into a basket. My Mom says the only trouble I ever got in was when I constantly dribbled my basketball in the house or accidentally broke something while playing on my indoor hoop. Now that I am in 11th grade, my outside court next to my garage is my favorite place to work on my skills.
I am a very good athlete and have excelled at other sports in the past, but last year I decided to give them up to focus on basketball. I have mostly played point guard to this point in my career, and I enjoy having the responsibility of having the ball in my hands. My ball handling and passing are some of my best traits and I love creating opportunities for my teammates. Even though I lead my team in assists and steals, I am also the leading scoring on my team because I am an excellent shooter/scorer as well.
My Dad has been my coach since 2nd grade, and he believes my biggest advantage over the other players is my extremely high basketball IQ. I am one of those players that is always in the right place at the right time and I am always anticipating one pass/one play ahead of the rest of the court. And I have made a bunch of clutch shots and buzzer beaters in my career.
I am a quiet, humble guy by nature and writing about myself is not easy. I usually let my game speak for itself and lead by example, but I also lead by making sure to encourage my teammates in all situations. My teammates love to be on the court with me because they know together, we make a team; and the only way to win is by playing as a team. I believe that being humble is a core value and my desire to win is a driving force that keeps me motivated to continue to improve all aspects of my game.
