My name is Devyn Brewton. I am a 6’6” 191lb Junior Shooting Guard/Small Forward at Shoemaker High School (6A) in Killeen, Texas. I have started on my High School Varsity team since Freshman year. This past year led our team to become District Co-Champions. As a sophomore, The Killeen Dailey Herald recently named me to the All-Area Second Team as well as to the All-District Honorable Mention. Texashoops.com currently has me ranked as the #70 2017 Prospect in the State of Texas(https://texashoops.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1814662), and I am working hard in the gym and on the court to improve my game for this season.
I have a great understanding for the game of basketball as I started the game through AAU with my George Gervin Elite team (6th grade) who taught the fundamentals of the game as well as the ambidextrousness of playing basketball, dribbling, passing, and shooting. I am a great team player that is unselfish and can find the open man. I have developed a very high release, mid-range jump shot from 15-19’ and can easily knock down the 3pt shot as well. I run the floor easily on fast breaks and can finish fluently with both hands around the rim. Additionally, I am a very good defender, shot blocker, passer, and rebound around guys that are bigger very well as I crash the boards for easy put-backs. I am long and slender and have the ability to put the ball on the floor in transition and finish with dunks.
Most importantly, I am very good student with a 3.0 GPA and taking AP classes. My High School team Shoemaker finished the season 36-3 and made it to the Sweet 16 of Texas 6A basketball losing to Atascocita HS. This Spring/Summer of 2016, I will be playing select basketbal with my Adidas Team URBAN ASAK Basketball throughout the state of Texas, Atlanta, Los Angleles, South Carolina, and Las Vegas.
