My name is Treyton Tebbs, class of 2021, from Cedar City, Utah. I have been playing basketball since 3rd grade and have continued to work towards my goal of playing basketball in college. I am committed to improving my skills and athleticism, as well as keeping a high GPA in order to meet my goals. I have worked very hard academically in order to take all concurrent enrollment classes during 11th and 12th grade. By the end of my senior year, I will have earned a High School Diploma and a General Education Certificate from Southern Utah University (40 college credits).
My strengths as a basketball player are my ability to shoot the three and to shoot quickly off the catch and from deep range. I have very good court vision and quick feet and hands. In my sophomore season, my ability to keep the ball in front of me has led to me always being assigned to guard our opponent's best penetrator.
In my Junior year, my role changed a bit. With a new coach and some of our other players coming back from injuries, I became more of a floor general instead of our main scorer. I discovered new talents that I knew I was capable of, but didn't know how much I could help the team in other ways than scoring.
I have worked on ball handling and passing with my left hand for years and feel my ambidexterity is a big strength. I take a lot of pride in my ability to keep the person I am guarding from getting straight line drives to the basket.
I began a lot of training in the weight room my freshman year and will continue to train throughout high school. I now weigh 195lbs. I expect that I will continue to grow in strength, weight and height over the next few years. My training in the weight room is basketball specific. I work at improving explosiveness both with first step and lateral movement.
I continue to work on improving my finishes around the basket and my shooting on a daily basis. I fully expect my hard work to show up during my senior year. I will be updating my videos and statistics regularly.
Please follow my progress during the next couple of years. I am considering secondary education, exercise science, sports management and communications as potential areas of study in college.
In addition to my training to improve in basketball, I work part time in a youth basketball program at the Southern Utah Sports Academy. I teach young players how to handle the basketball and shoot. I really enjoy working with the younger kids at my job.
