I have been playing basketball since I was six years old. My dad was my first coach. I have gained experience through playing basketball for a house league, Mount Vernon Travel Team, Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria, VA, Fairfax Cowboys and Cross-Training Athletes into Believers (CTAB) AAU teams and even had personal training.
From April 2016 to July 2017, I grew from 5’8 to 6’3. Because of this tremendous growth spurt I had to put in extra work and time into my game to change from a smaller point guard to a small forward. at Mount Vernon HS. I provide length and a very good knock down spot up jumper. Growing that much in such a short amount of time gave me an advantage of learning every position and taking knowledge from an old position I played and applying it to any new spot that I had. I keep a notebook and record of all the plays with detailed analysis of each position, what they were supposed to do, who was the main scoring option, and where everyone is supposed to be on the court.
Academically, I’ve managed to maintain good grades while taking honors classes. I finished my freshman year with a 3.1 and did well on my standardized tests. Heading into sophomore year, however, was difficult because of personal challenges and I chose a very difficult course load in which I wasn’t prepared. That year, I earned a 2.3 GPA. My junior year, fortunately, I took challenging, but not too difficult classes. I worked twice as hard and earned a 3.2 GPA. I plan to attend a 4-year university and earn a degree in criminal justice. I want to be able to make a difference in the community.
Off the court, I’m involved with boy scouts, attending church, playing the piano at my church, and working. I consider myself to be very organized at home and school. Three strengths that I have are my organizational skills, my work ethic, and my willingness to try new things or new options.
