I am in the class of 2022 at Orange County High School in Orange, Virginia. As a point guard and shooting guard, I have played 2 years of Junior Varsity and 1 year of Varsity basketball for my high school. I am looking forward to participating in my second year on the Varsity basketball team. I have also played on various AAU travel basketball teams, most recently the SQBA team, which gave me the opportunity to travel, attend, and play in showcase games. I have participated in several camps, attending camps at the University of Virginia, Oak Hill Academy, and the University of Mary Washington.
Basketball has been a passion of mine since I was in grade school. It has helped me grow and develop as a person in many ways, on and off the court. It is a huge part of who I am. I have strong ball handling skills and am smart on the court. I am a team leader, talking on the court and from the bench, always encouraging my teammates. I am coachable and open to criticism because I know it can only make me a better player and competitor.
Although basketball has played a large role in my life and is important to me, academics is a huge focus of my life as well. I take challenging classes, work hard, and maintain a high GPA. I also volunteer at fairs and festivals in my community, take meals to others, and help keep my community clean.
I have faced obstacles in my life, but I have never allowed them to keep me down. I am a Type 1 Diabetic and have lived with needle pricks, insulin injections, and sugar highs and lows. Instead of letting this disease push me down, I have attacked it head-on and decided to take care of myself the best I could with my family’s support. Over the last 5 years, I got a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) and an insulin pump that have helped me become more independent and control my diabetes. I was not going to let it control my life. Because of my vigilance, it has never kept me from doing the things I love.
I want to attend a college where I can continue to grow as a person and an athlete. I want to continue to push myself in the classroom and on the court. I aspire to be a great competitor and role model. I love to compete, prepare, and work with others in a team-oriented environment. I want to be a part of a great college family.
