My career began at Columbia High School and I started on the Varsity team as a Freshman. I led my team in scoring, but unfortunately our team ended up with a losing record of 3-17. The following season was a different story. Our team flourished as I shifted my role on the court. I wasn't the lead scorer, but I specialized in making others around me better. Defense intensity, rebounding, and completing more assists made that happen. My sophomore season came to an end and we had a winning record of 12-11.
Next, change entered my life. I moved to a different town with my family and had to go to a new school. Adapting to a new atmosphere isn't always easy, but I adjusted in a short time. I now go to Rosalia High School and play three varsity sports for Tekoa-Rosalia. I carry extreme passion and love for basketball, so when the season came I was very excited to see what was in store. I was now in a more competitive league and had all new teammates. I saw change as a new opportunity for future success. During practice and games I demonstrated a growth mindset. I played an important role on the team as point guard and shooting guard and helped produce the winning record of 14-9. The previous year (2017-2018) my current team's record was 4-18. Through my high school years I have shown my leadership skills on and off the court. Academically, I have stayed focused and have maintained high honor roll status. Athletically, I have put extra work in by joining a before-school weight lifting program. Also, I went to practices and played in tournaments with my AAU team.
I plan to play basketball at the collegiate level after high school. With my shooting abilities and basketball experience, I have the confidence to take on the challenge. I am currently looking for the college that will suit me best. My competitive nature and all-around abilities provide a team with what it takes to win. Overall, I have grown tremendously as a student, athlete and person. I plan to continue this in the near future. Moving schools half way through high school isn't always ideal, but in my case, I have learned to adapt with all the circumstances thrown at me.
