Having ended my Junior Year, there were many lessons I have learned. In the Spring of my Junior Year (2014) it became evident to me that I was having a very difficult time focusing. I was tested through the school and my Doctor and it turns out, the reasons I have struggled for 3 years is because I have severe ADD. What caught mine and my parents attention was that my grades were suffering, but yet I scored 1540 on my SAT's.... in the top 10 for my school and top 3rd overall. We realized that the contained environment without distractions are what assisted me in my success.
Going into my senior year, my short-term goal is to use the lessons I have learned and apply the tools I have been given, to achieve academic success required for entry into a 4-year University. To make this a reality, I have committed to the following goals:
- Utilize the tools the School and my Doctor will provide in support of my ADD
- Apply the study skills and discipline I have learned
- Take advantage of Team Study Hall to complete work
- Use study time at home wisely
- Improve my GPA to at least a 2.5
I am confident that I have the intelligence and skills to achieve anything I set my mind to; earning scholastic success for myself. Achieving a great score on the SAT's really encouraged me to fight beyond my struggles to WIN. I am a STUDENT athlete! Ultimately, earning the privilege of a scholarship playing basketball is my highest priority and I recognize that it starts in the classroom.
On the basketball court, the following are goals for my Senior Year of High School:
- 1st Team All Metro
- Leading Scorer All Metro
- Be a Great Teammate
- Make All-Conference Team
- Win State Championship
- Earn the Title of MVP
- DRIVE more!
I am working to achieve the goals above through hard work, two-a-days, working on ball handling, getting to my shot and doing whatever is necessary to master my game. I will take advantage of the "green light" that the coach has given me when it comes to scoring anywhere on the floor. I will take my title as the best defender on our team and take it to the next level.
My long-term goal after graduating college is to earn a Masters Degree. Eventually, I plan to work my way toward becoming a detective in the homicide unit or drug unit with the potential to provide economic stability for my current and future family.
I aspire to give back to my community through my hard work and ultimate success. Whether it's my church, non-profit organizations that help children, teens, women and families or other organizations, outreach to help those less fortunate is very important to me.
I know what it means to work hard in life, with priorities of God, family, school, basketball and friends!
My dream? Well, like every young man who loves the game of basketball as I do, it would be to achieve the highest honor of playing in the NBA.
