My name is Seif El-Askary
I was born in Fairfax, Virginia. When I was about 3 months old ,my family and I moved to Alexandria, Egypt where I spent a bit of my childhood. Something about sports with flips just always seemed to intrigue me.I started of as a gymnast before eventually becoming a full time diver.
When I moved back to the U.S I was about 4 years old, at this point I hadn't really quite made that transition to diving, but moving to the U.S really gave me the opportunity to explore diving at a different level. When I was younger, I always had a hard time fitting in and making friends. Transitioning to life in the U.S after living in Egypt was much different. It took some time to get used to.
My mom had been doing some research on dive teams in the area, she wanted to find a team that would help me pursue a good diving career. Although Mission Viejo Nadadores was about 45 mins from my house at the time, we knew that this would be the place for me.Here I am now, ten years later, and I am honored to call myself a nadadore, where I currently train with the U.S Olympian Michele Mitchell along with Todd Mulzet who make a great coaching staff. A pool where the greatest diver of all time Greg Louginous trained and many more elite divers. I have to say it was the opportunity of a life time and I am so grateful for it. I can not wait to transition to college and both bring all my life experience through the years to my new college team but also learn from the amazing college coaches and teammates. I just can’t wait for this day to come.
For me, what I look for in a college is a place where I feel like I'm at home. It must offer both an Engineering and business program as I dream to own my own engineering firm one day. A place where I can excel both academically and athletically.
In my free time when I am not at school or diving, I love skating with my friends at the skate park, or drawing/painting. I’ve won many awards in art contests and it’s a great way for me to relax after days of training. Another one of my favorite things to do is to travel. My mom taught me from a young age that experiences are far more valuable than physical gifts, thus I’ve been lucky to go to places all over the world such as Rome, Switzerland,Vienna, Germany, Dubai,Egypt, etc. One of my great ambitions is to travel the world. As an Egyptian American, I think I am the luckiest person in the world. I get to enjoy my country of birth america yet keep the heritage and culture of my Egyptian ancestors. I even know how to speak Arabic fluently. The national diving coach of the Egyptian national team is very interested in having me join the Egyptian National team one day.. A goal I am working very hard to make happen soon...
Thank you
