Matthew Blommel '23 Recruiting Profile

Life is an adventure that is full of choices.  From a young age I have been afforded the opportunity to experience life’s adventures both athletically and academically.  I have learned that often in life things do not go as we had planned.  In these situations, we have the choice to give up and stay down or get up and start working for something better.  In my case I choose to persevere and achieve my goals.  This philosophy has been a focus in all areas of my life.  These life experiences, and the choices I have made have shaped me into the person I am today.

I have always had a great love for any type of sport or physical activity.  Throughout my life I have participated in many sports including football, basketball, golf, and swimming.  However, I have never found any sport more fun, exhilarating, and challenging as diving.  I have been diving since I was nine years old and still experience the same enjoyment and drive to keep shooting for the top.  Last season I qualified for the Florida State Championships and placed ninth in the State.

I am a homeschooled student.  Learning was never confined to a classroom, giving me room to broaden my horizons.  I have also participated in dual enrollment education since the beginning of my high school career.  I am currently a dual enrolled student at Seminole State Collage of Florida and have a 3.8 GPA in high school.

I am a faith based individual and an Eagle Scout.  I believe the world was a gift to us from God.  Scouting encompassed both my appreciation for of the amazing playground God created for us and satisfied my sense of adventure in the great outdoors.

Every situation is one’s choice as to how to look at it.  My life is one of appreciation, service, and learning.  As I look to the future, I am excited for my next phase of growing athletically and academically.  Life is an adventure and I choose to work hard to achieve my goals.
