I spent the 2 weeks this summer at Longhorn Diving Camp, and 7 weeks this summer at Ripfest Diving Camp.  It was an incredible experience working with amazing coaches and meeting divers from all over the world.  At camp I was able to put together a list on Platform and 3 meter,  work on perfecting my hurdle and just get better at all things diving.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I had a great year with my High School Diving team, winning Sectionals and finishing 10th at State.  I also had a great year with High School Gymnastics, finishing the State meet 4th on Hibar, 4th on Floor and 2nd on Parallel bars.

I discovered diving as a sport only about 3 years ago, but I have been a competitive gymnast since I was 6 years old.  I love to flip and I am an adrenaline junkie.  As you can imagine, I'm passionate about diving, particularly from tower.

I have worked hard through club and school improving my diving and gymnastics skills.  I enjoy the workouts and practices, but it is competition that defines me.  The challenge of beating others and myself is a rush.  From my perspective, succeeding in competition is the only way to really know if you have conquered a skill.

I want to dive in college because I love it, because I am driven to get better, and for the challenge it represents.  While both diving and gymnastics are in some ways individual sports, the team aspects of both are important to me.  I thrive on having people around who understand my obsession.  My teammates and I have always challenged, encouraged and helped each other.

I find diving, especially 10 meter tower diving, to be exhilarating and challenging. It's a thrill, and I love it.

Training

  • Springboard
  • 3 years
  • I started investigating diving as a sport in Spring of 2012 as an outgrowth of my lifelong, and ongoing, competition in men's gymnastics. I started lessons with the park district that summer. I attended Jetstream dive camp in Florida (coached by Joe Greenwall) that summer, then started on HS team that fall. I have attended diving camps at Purdue Summer 2013 & 14. I train now with Wheaton Dive Club and Boiler Diving Academy as well as with my High School Team. I attended the Individualized Training Camp at Indiana University (head coach Drew Johansen) in Fall of 2014. During the week (off HS season) I train with Wheaton Diving Club 1 1/2 hours a day 3 days a week.
  • 10 Meter Tower
  • 1 year
  • This is my passion and the specialty I am most interested in pursuing. Unfortunately, there are no 10 m towers in our area. I first dove off a 10 meter board at the Purdue Diving Camp summer of 2013. I was able to practice on it again at Purdue Dive camp 2014. I now dive with Boiler Diving Academy at Purdue on weekends so that I can train on 10 m tower. I train 6-7 hours a weekend. This summer I was able to work on my tower skills at Ripfest Diving Camp and at Longhorn Diving camp.
  • High School Diving
  • 3 years
  • My High school training schedule is 1 1/2 hours / day 5-6 days a week.
