Personal Statement
I am an 18 years old Australian springboard diver completing my final year of high school. I live in Sydney and started diving at age 8 as a club diver before being selected at age 11 to train at an elite level by the NSW Institute of Sport, my State’s peak sports institute. I have been a member of the Australian National Elite Junior Diving Squad since 2016 and I am a member of Diving Australia's 2428 Olympics Dream Team. In 2018 I was selected to represent Australia in international junior events and competed as a Junior B diver at the 2018 Dresden International Youth Diving Meet and the 22nd FINA World Junior Diving Championships in Kyiv, Ukraine. I then represented Australia as a Junior A Diver at the 2019 Dresden International Youth Diving Meet and in both the Junior A and Opens springboard events at the 2019 Bergen Open in Norway. I was the Australian 2019 Junior A Diver of the Year after winning gold in 1m springboard, 3m springboard and 3m synchronised springboard at the 2019 Australian Elite Junior Diving Championships. I was selected to represent Australia again at the 2020 Dresden International Youth Diving Meet and 2020 Bergen Open but these were cancelled due to COVID-19.
I now have an internationally competitive Open dive list and placed first in Mens 1m springboard at the recent 2021 Australian Open Championships. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to represent Australia at future FINA Grand Prix events. I would love to compete at the Olympic Games, World Championships and Commonwealth Games. I am looking for a program that enables me to continue to train and compete in diving at the highest level at the same time as working towards a university degree. The USA college diving circuit is unparalleled in the world and can offer me more senior level competitions and valuable experience than I can obtain living in Australia.
