Personal Statement
I am Reuben Havenga, I am a highly ambitions, 16 year old college student in the UK. I am a dedicated, courageous young adult and I value integrity, resilience. Humour is also an important value to me, and is present within my relationships and social networks.
At Peter Symonds College I am studying: Economics, Politics and history at A - Level. These areas of academics give me a comprehensive understanding of how political, economic, and historical forces intertwine to shape societies, and gives me a strong understanding of critical thinking and analysis.
I have finished secondary school with 10 GCSES, to score a 3.32 Grade Point Average. I am currently predicted high grades with my A levels, with my first set of results being straight A grades.
As for diving, I am currently in the top 8 divers in my age group for the UK, and have consistently maintained a top position since my first National competition at the age of 10. I am passionate and dedicated towards my sport, and would love to continue doing so in America, whilst simultaneously expanding my knowledge by studying academically.

Reuben competed at his first national event, finishing 4th in his category out of a field of around 30. He has consistently stayed at the top end of his age group throughout the years, moving up a level, with aims to be a Senior National level athlete in the new few months. I've seen him mature as an athlete and person which has been the biggest part in his success as a diver.
At the start of Reuben's career, around the age of 13/14, he lost his love of the sport due to injury and fear, and the way he has overcome that across the years has been amazing to see. It has taken a lot of courage and trust in the process. He is now very self-driven, fearless, and motivated to succeed in the sport.
I see a lot of potential in Reuben and have enjoyed the journey being his coach.
