I have always been an athlete. Football was my first passion. I started playing when I was in the first grade and played through my Junior year of high school. However, several knee injuries caused me to sit out most of my junior year. After several surgeries and ultimately ACL reconstruction, my parents, my coach and I decided it was best for me to not continue to play. It was a heartbreaking decision. I never missed a practice or game during my recovery time. I always trained hard to get back on the field, but it just wasn't meant to be.
Because of my dedication and hard work for the team my Varsity Coach offered me a coaching position my Senior year of high school. I was the offensive/defensive coach for the Junior/Varsity team. Having this opportunity confirm my decision to go into the education field of study in college. I plan to teach in the Science field and hopefully coach either football or golf one day.
Having the football injuries opened the door to the sport of golf for me. I had played it just for fun but never seriously. After my injuries kept me from playing such a physical sport as football I shifted my focus and dedication to golf. I played on the Varsity team my Junior year. I have since been taking private lessons and playing every chance I could get. I have come to love the sport of golf as much as football. I wish I had started playing sooner. I now have the same passion for golf, and I can't get enough of it.
I keep my grades and courses at a high academic level. My parents have always required this of me and I am thankful for that now that I am older and about to enter college. I want to do well in college and be successful one day so I can be productive and take care of my future family.
I would love to play college golf. I am hard working, dedicated and dependable. I look forwards to get the chance to prove that to my college coach.
