Hi, my name is Braden Holt. I attend Madison County High School in Gurley, AL. I began playing golf with my family when I was around 8 years’ old, and starting playing competitively in 2020 when Covid stopped all school sports. I took that time we were out of school to get on the golf course and start really trying to work on my game. I tried out for our golf team at MCHS in the fall of 2020 and made our Varsity team as an 8th grade student. I have played for our high school now going into my senior year. Currently, I am taking lessons with Jordan DeBonis, he is the Head Golf Pro at the Ledges – Huntsville, AL and serves as the northern Alabama director of the Alabama NW Florida Junior Tour.
I've played in tournament-level golf for a few years now on tours such as AJGA, and competitive golf via AHSAA. Once I began playing golf for our local high school and working with a private coach, my love for the game quickly grew and I realized how much I wanted to play golf in college. Playing golf competitively in college has been a priority l set with my family when we started mapping out my high school career from which classes to take for my education to how I need to set up my practice schedule. Academically, I have worked extremely hard to overcome a dyslexic diagnosis in elementary school and now take Honors and AP classes with high grade marks. In high school, I have a 3.71 GPA with a 4.0 WGPA. I know for me to be successful in life my education has to come first however, my dedication and hard work continues in to my golf work ethic as well. I am committed to practice and playing time, I take responsibility for time practiced, playing and even paying for my own equipment, green fees and lessons from time to time. Working to improve my golf game is a daily focus for me from choosing time of the golf course or a physical workout. I am excited for this Senior Year of High School and the possible opportunity to play on the next level. Playing competitive college golf would be everything I have been working towards and a goal come true.
