My name is Kristian Isa, I am a junior at Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School, In Kelowna B.C. Canada
I was born and raised in Kelowna B.C.
As a stereotypical Canadian I picked up hockey at a young age, and played competitively as a goalie for 8 years. It was not until I was 12 when I discovered and fell in love with golf. While I did pick up golf late my passion grew strong for the game.
I started out being a self-taught golfer until 2016 when I found a coach at the Okanagan Golf Club. Clay Stothers and I have been together for three years, since then he and I have never looked back. Getting my handicap down from a 29.8 to a 1.9 from 2016-2018. In 2017 I joined the Okanagan Performance Team, coached by Clay Stothers. A group of determined, skilled junior golfers who travel across the country to compete in tournaments.
The Okanagan performance team has been a great experience. I have learned to handle myself on and off the golf course in a professional manner, and I have learned the importance of independence by traveling and lodging with the golf team all throughout the country.
I am also apart of the golf team at Aberdeen Hall Prep, last year I played alongside the former #1 ranked Jr in Canada, Cole Wilson, the #3 ranked Jr In British Columbia, Brandon Chai, along with Colton Piper and Rebecca Reitsma who now all play university golf at Missouri Science and Technology, and University of British Columbia. I feel that by having them as my teammates for three years truly showed me what it takes to be the best and to continue to get better day by day.
In 2018, in my grade 10 year I played as our #3 for Aberdeen Prep, alongside the 4 seniors previously mentioned. We won the Provincial Championship with a two-day team total of 599. Individually I placed 5th out of the 40 competing. I feel that this team has properly prepared me to play for a winning university golf team.
My mom is a family physician who also does obstetrics, and my dad is a pharmaceutical rep. Coming from a hard-working background they always taught me to put school first. That is something that I follow to this day. I pride myself in my academics, last year I had a 96.5 GPA and completed the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award.
I believe that my determination and hard work in school along with my dedication and passion for golf prepares me well for managing a student-athlete lifestyle as a member of any university golf team.
