Personal Statement

Hi! I am Nolan Harris, a member of the class of 2025. I am from Oakdale, California and I currently attend Oakdale High School where I have a total GPA of 3.19 and am #1 on our golf team. Here are a few things about me... I have grown up playing the game of golf since I was old enough to hold a club. I grew up playing many sports along with golf. I played soccer, and basketball, wrestled, did gymnastics, and have always been active throughout childhood. Around age 10, I decided to give up all other sports and focus on golf. Since that decision I have played tournaments every year, year-round in many different junior golf associations. I play in JGANC, JTNC, FCG, and US Kids Golf tournaments here in California, Arizona, Nevada, and North Carolina.

Some of my biggest accomplishments in golf and academics are playing in the US Kids Golf World Teen Championships 3 different years and placing top 70 all 3 years. I have earned my academic block O for achieving a 4.0 GPA at the end of a semester. I am the 5x defending OGCC 18u Club Champion. I am 2x VOL All Leauge MVP and have made it to masters my freshman and sophomore years. I have extensive junior golf experience playing hundreds of tournaments and learning how to play in a pressure-filled environment. I currently have a handicap index of 1.0 and intend to become a scratch golfer by the end of this summer.

My lifelong goal has been to play college golf and then later, pursue my dream of playing on the PGA Tour. In college, I would like to study Fire Science/Fire Technology and earn my bachelor's degree in the field of firefighting. Firefighting has always been a plan in mind and I would love to be able to study a field I love while also playing the sport I love.

A couple of non-golf-related things about me are that I love playing instruments. I play guitar, drums, bass, and piano. I play the drums in my Church's Sunday morning and youth band. I also do a lot of work for people at our church. I do yard work, landscaping, housekeeping, and many more household tasks to help the members of my church. I am currently employed at America's Tire where I work as a Certified Service Technician. I believe that this helps me to use teambuilding skills and work well with others. Lastly, I enjoy fitness, I regularly work out to stay in shape for golf, work, and my everyday life. I love weight training and going for runs.

That's all about me, thank you for your time and consideration in me.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • VOL Champsionship
  • 4/29/24 to 4/29/24
  • I shot 72 from the back tees at Micke Grove. It was a very windy day with gusts up to 30mph. I won first place in the tournament and was co-nominated for All Leauge MVP for my third year in a row. Our team shot 384, winning Leauge Champions.
  • Camp/Event
  • VOL Match #4
  • 4/18/24 to 4/18/24
  • I had a rough day shooting +4 76. I struck the ball decently but was missing in the wrong spots and making the round hard for me to score. I shot a +4 40 on the front nine with a triple bogey and double bogey on the card. The back nine I started with another double bogey but played -2 my last 8 holes to finish at +4. One major highlight of my day was my putting, I felt very confident from any distance and severity of break all day long with my new putter. Our team shot 387.
  • Camp/Event
  • VOL Match #3
  • 4/09/24 to 4/09/24
  • This was my third league match of the season. I shot a -1 71 while only hitting 2 fairways and 13 greens in regulation. I scrambled well while hitting the ball poorly off the tee and putted solid on the freshly punched greens. Our team shot 378.
  • Camp/Event
  • VOL Match #2
  • 3/27/24 to 3/27/24
  • I played in the second league match of our season, shooting -1 71. Our team score was 385 and I was the lowest round of the match.
  • Camp/Event
  • VOL Match #1
  • 3/20/24 to 3/20/24
  • I played the first league match of the year. I shot +3 75 adding to our 5-man team score of 402.
  • Camp/Event
  • YellowJacket Invitational
  • 3/04/24 to 3/04/24
  • I shot even par 72 from the blue tees. Out of 124 players and 25 schools, I tied for 1st place individual and our team took first place with a 4-man combined score of 314.
