Personal Statement

My name is Daniel Owen Hutchison, and I am 5’ 9” tall and weigh in at 145 pounds. I am a 17 year old senior at Pioneer High School, San Jose, California. I have been on the varsity team since I was a freshman, and I have been the number one player each year that I have played. Last year, I led the golf team to CCS (Central Coast Section) finals for the first time in the school’s history. As an individual, I have also made it to CCS for the past three years in a row, and I also had the lowest scoring average as a freshman in the Mt. Hamilton League. My practice regiment is currently working on my flexibility, core strength and short game. I have had a swing coach for about four years and we have worked hard at improving my game, especially my swing plane. I have been a very active junior player in Northern California (JGANC and NCGA) for the last four years, and I continue to gain experience and learn each time I compete. In 2012, I was placed top 10 in 9 tournaments (eighteen holes) out of 23 that I played. I have great determination and leadership on and off the golf course. I have proven these traits to my current varsity high school team colleagues, and the junior leadership group that I am apart of at Santa Teresa GC in San Jose. My school work is also very important to me, and I currently carry a 3.5 GPA. I continuously balance my golf and academic priorities to ensure I can be very successful later on in life. My immediate goal is to be academically successful and play golf at a college level within an ambitious golf program.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
