When I first started golf, I had a hard time coping with bad rounds because my temper would always get the best of me. I expected perfection, and could not accept anything less. As I played, one bad shot could throw off my entire round. Over the years, however, as I continued to play, I realized that bad rounds happen, and I learned to channel my frustration into hardwork and dedication. Whenever I made a mistake on the course, I learned to take it out on the ball instead of myself, to hit better drives but also to move on and keep playing. Being able to channel my focus in golf has also helped me off the course especially in the classroom.
Overall, my freshman year on the varsity team at Chaparral High School was very successful. I placed 2nd in league overall with a scoring average of 74, shooting 32 one round, and qualifying for C.I.F. playoffs through the Southwestern League Finals. Throughout this season, I have learned the importance of integrity, patience, teamwork, and mental tenacity. Based on these experiences I look forward to my upcoming seasons, and I aspire to continually grow as a student-athlete.
