My name is Anthony Chung. I played my first competitive round of golf in May of 2016, two months before I turned 7. From the struggles of that first match, I began developing my skills and in so doing, grew within me a love for the game of golf that is still raging strong nearly 9 years later. Over the course of the hundreds of matches since that day in 2016, I was given the opportunity to work on every facet necessary to succeed in golf. When all these facets coalesced, the results were unmistakable, from birdies to holes in one (including two in one round just a year and a half into my golfing journey and one with my Varsity team in my freshman year of high school) to bigger prizes like medal finishes and first place trophies in out of state competitions.
I plan on continuing to build on these skills in the course of my high school career with the aspiration of playing for a collegiate golf team that will allow me to integrate my goals of growing my game as well as preparing me to successfully leverage the team's training for a fulfilling professional career in golf and beyond. Throughout my middle and early high school years, I have been fortunate to have been given the opportunity to excel in the advanced math and science classes and apply those pre-requisites to enroll in AP and college level classes in my freshman and sophomore years. I am well on my way to completing the AP Calculus AB course with an A so far after the first semester. I have had similar success in my other AP course in Environmental Science as well as my college courses in history and art, along with my Honors English class this past semester, making Principal's Honor Roll for a second straight semester. Being in the Dual Enrollment program with a schedule that is often different than that of the high school has taught me the importance of time management, a skill that is valuable in balancing the demands of being a student athlete as well as the game of golf itself. My work ethic and drive to improve are the strongest traits I have that will play a central role to how far I will go in making my dreams a reality.
