Ever since I was in Elementary school, I haven't imagined my future without golf. I have been playing golf since third grade and started competing in tournaments since fifth grade. I am currently a Senior at Legacy High School, where I was on their golf team for four years. I qualified for regionals in 2020 during Junior Year, I was team captain during the 2020 and 2021 seasons during my Junior and Senior seasons and I lettered my Sophomore through my Senior year.
Outside of golf, I am also swimming for my high school’s swim and dive team. I have been on the swim team for all four years of high school and on the dive team for one year. I have also lettered three times for swimming. I also am in the Boy Scouts of America where I became an Eagle Scout in 2021. I spent seven years as a Boy Scout and received just over 100 volunteer hours, most of which came from my Eagle Leadership Project. This was a self lead project where I built a permanent orienteering course in Thornton, Colorado that is over three miles long. I also have had a job for the last year, I started working at my Mcdonalds in August of 2020 and am still there. And in June of 2021 I got trained to become a manager of my store.
At my school I am also in the Gifted and Talented program. I have taken multiple AP and CP courses that my school offers and play a strong role in my school's community. I plan to go to college and earn my degree in Engineering, specifically in Electrical or mechanical engineering. My grades throughout my first two years of high school were pretty good, I had a 3.0 GPA. But with my Junior year I was really hard with COVID. Within a couple of months my aunt and a close family friend had passed, my Dad was sent to the hospital for heart failure, my Grandma had surgery to remove a tumor, my Grandpa was diagnosed with prostate cancer and we had to put my dog down. Because of all these things, school just wasn’t my priority and I would just push school to the side and I ended up having no motivation to complete my work. At the end of my Junior year I salvaged what I could grade wise. But now I have tons of motivation because I want to still be able to get into colleges and am working extremely hard my Senior year to keep my grades up.
This is why I believe I am different than other recruits and would be a good candidate for your team.
