Hi! My name is Jack Walsh and I play golf for Old Saybrook High School (Connecticut). For almost all my life it has been a dream of mine to play college golf. I think I am a great candidate for your team because I have started every varsity match in for my first 3 years of high school golf. For my Freshman and Sophomore year I played in the 2nd or 3rd spot on our team composed of juniors and seniors both years. For my junior year I was named team Captain and finished as the match medalist in 10 of 16 matches. I finished the year with a3.8 differential and currently hold a 4.4 GHIN handicap. This last year I was given an award for the most rounded player on our team which is given to the player with a positive attitude and overall good sportsmanship. What makes me different is that I know I'm not the best player out there, however I continue to work really hard on improving to play to the best of my ability while maintaining high grades. I also play soccer for my school and will be completing the rank of Eagle Scout within the next year. I look forward to talking with you and discussing how I can be a benefit to your golf program and school community.
My personal golf highlight to date was my hole in one that I hit on August 14, 2014 at the Fox Hopyard Golf Club in East Haddam, CT. I was playing with my PGA Junior League team and the club pro Ron Beck who witnessed the shot and took me and my teammates into the bar to celebrate afterwards with ice cold soda as I was just 11 years old.
