From playing basketball, soccer, volleyball, swimming, martial arts, and surfing all my life golf was never what I wanted to do, but what my father wanted. Moving from LA to Hawaii and then to Japan exposed me to an array of cultures and lives that have made me the man I am. With my father being a single father raising 3 children for over 10 years, he has hid secrets and truths for the sake of our happiness and has given everything to us. With a rocky childhood, we moved to Japan to be with my grandmother. With her being the only living close relative of my father's, she was my sunshine. On January 26, 2019, she left this world. I am a man of many flaws without a perfect childhood, but I know myself a lot more than others. I went from wanting to play in the NBA to seriously play golf at the age of 14. January of 2018 is the day I sacrificed and dedicated everything to the game of golf. My soul was given to the game.
IMG Academy was the choice I made and has shaped me tremendously. My first year would be the second half of freshmen year in which I learned the responsibility and ownership life means. As I settled in, I would say I learned golf from the standpoint of a beginner and developed knowledge and learned to love the game even more. Sophomore year, on the night of Black Friday, is the day I called a friend of mine that really knew the grind and dedication it takes perfect a craft. I went under his guidance and truly learned what "grind" means and the attention to care it takes to perfect my craft. With the loss of my grandmother and late nights and early mornings passed and soon came junior year. Junior year, I decided to leave my close friend's guidance and take everything up a notch independently. Along my journey, I started to learn the true meaning of inspiration, success, and happiness. This year has been my enlightenment year as a human being and a tremendous growth as a person. I am a man nowhere near perfect, but know what I want.
I will continue to hold myself to the highest human, academic, and athletic standards until the day I die.
I promise that I will bring a championship to the dream college I attend and bring my whole team with me through an unbearable, impossible, and humbling journey that makes us 100 times the person we were. I love failure, as I've been blessed with an opportunity of imperfection and obstacles that have humbled my character and pushed my limits. I enjoy the journey and the process more than the achievement and accomplishments. This humbles my character and helps develop strong and healthy relationships with my peers. I put everyone in front of myself, enjoying watching my colleagues and friends succeed. I will make an impact in all aspects both on and off the course. From being a leader on the course to bringing change to the world, I will dedicate my life to making an impact.
