I was introduced to golf at a very young age. My Dad played frequently and he would take me with him and let me hit a few or putt sometimes. I began getting serious about golf in middle school and started taking lessons from a golf pro. From then on, I was hooked. I thought golf was life. Golf has influenced my life in many ways. Although I’m still young, I’ve learned a lot about life through the game of golf. Golf has helped me develop beneficial character traits such as patience, perseverance, positive thinking, coping with adversity, and integrity. Each of these traits is very important in my walk through life. Unfortunately, sometimes I learn these the hard way because golf is a very humbling game. Hopefully these ‘on the course’ lessons will help me with real life situations.
As much as I love golf, I certainly understand that it is a game. I do realize that getting an education is far more important. However, it would be great if I could attain a quality college education while playing golf. This would be a dream come true! My ultimate goal would be to play on the PGA tour, but most importantly, I want to make sure that I have a solid education. I know this will be a day by day process, but I am ready for the challenge.
*My lowest round was at my home course, Wallace Adams Golf Course at Little Ocmulgee State Park in Wheeler County. I shot a 68 on 18 holes from the tips. That is a day that I will never forget. That was 6 shots better than my previous low score of 74. Update: My new low score for 9 holes is 30. I had 4 birdies and an eagle on the front 9 at my home course.
Highlight: I was low medalist at the Area Match my Junior year with a 75. I birdied the first 3 holes and finished the front with a terrible 42. I then birdied the 11th and eagled the par 5 18th to shoot 42/33 for a 75.
