Colton Novotny '19 Recruiting Profile

Hello,

My name is Colton Novotny and I am a senior at Bureau Valley High School. I am a late bloomer in the game of golf. I was the kid that played baseball, basketball, and football and it wasn't until my 8th grade year that I started golfing.  I absolutely fell in love with the sport! I started to play any time I possibly could. Going into my freshman year of high school, I was on a mission to make the varsity team and succeeded!! I am a four year varsity letterman,  played in the varsity one spot on our team and varsity team co-captain.

This summer, prior to my senior year, I played nearly 1000 holes on my own. My average has gone down by nearly 5-6 strokes every year. I have very minimal golf teaching so I am basically self-taught. I am very open to being coached and I want to learn much more about golf! I know that I am capable of so much more given the opportunity. I am always setting goals for myself and, once achieved,  I set another goal. For instance, last year I tied my high school record with a 1 under par,  and this year I beat the school record with a 2 under par. On the academic side of things, I strive to do my best and continue to improve my grades as well.   I have been told by a few people that I am not good enough to play college golf and it my mission to prove those people wrong! More importantly, I want to pursue my passion and dream to play golf at the collegiate level.  You will not find another student and golfer that will work as hard as I will to improve my skills and contribute to the team!
