Samuel Puent '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sam Puent and I am a hard-working dedicated golfer. I originally began my high school athletic career as a football player. I was slated to play on the varsity team as a freshman, but due to unforeseen circumstances it was recommended that I change sports. I have remained a part of the varsity team as a manager and videographer. Although this change was devastating for me, I did not want to be done playing competitive sports in high school. So in my sophomore year, I picked up a golf club for the first time and have never looked back. I have put all of my focus into improving my game and becoming the best golfer I can be.

In my first high school golf season in 2021, I was awarded most improved player and the only sophomore to qualify for our conference tournament. Our team won the conference championship. I improved from scoring in the 110's as a sophomore to the mid 80's in my 2022 junior year season. I was also awarded 2nd Team All-Conference and Hanover Central High School Athlete of the Week during the 2022 season. I am a member of the Northwest Indiana Junior Golf Association and Indiana Junior Golf Association where I have competed in their 2022 tournament season.

I have worked very hard to get better at golf and have listened to the advice of my varsity and swing coaches. I am very focused on learning to improve my game and I am at the golf course whenever possible. I am a leader on my team and always maintain a positive cheerful attitude. I am a good sportsman and lift up my teammates. My goal is to keep playing with these same values at the highest competitive level possible. My dream and passion is to play golf in college.

My primary college location would be in the midwest, but I am open to any location. I am looking for a college that I can continue to grow both academically and athletically. I plan to continue keeping my focus on my studies and achieving the best possible grades I can. I am undecided on my college major at this time.

I look forward to continuing my golf career at the college level and becoming a valuable member of a competitive golf team.
