Personal Statement
Ever since I first experienced competitive golf at the age of nine, I have always had an aspiration to progress above and beyond local junior competition, pushing forward to see the standard I could achieve. I know that going to study in the US would help me to fulfil that aspiration. It would enable me to acquire a good qualification while also allowing me to develop my golf with a high-quality coach.
Academically I did well in my 5th Year at school achieving two B grades in Business Management and Latin as well as a C grade in English. I am currently working to add to my qualifications in my Final Year where I am studying Mathematics, Computing, Physical Education and Advanced Business Management. I am also actively involved in a supervisory capacity at school where I am Vice Captain of my House as well as being a prefect.
I really want to achieve a good degree from a well-recognized university so that I am in a good position to find employment after I graduate. Golf-wise, this year has been my best for results. I have won the prestigious Ayrshire Junior Matchplay title, Junior Club Championships at both Turnberry and Troon Welbeck Golf Clubs and a number of Junior Opens. I am also an established member of our regional (Ayrshire) Under 18 Team where I have contributed to winning the West of Scotland League by winning all of my matches.
I am currently the Junior Captain of Turnberry Golf Club which has provided me with the opportunity to lead and represent the views of Junior members.
Through my achievements this year, I have earned a World Amateur Golf Ranking & currently sit at 4,695.
I therefore see that a US degree course and a golf scholarship would be a brilliant opportunity for me.
