Personal Statement

My collegiate goals reflect my strong desire to fulfil my potential in both my academics and my golfing career.

My parents have taught me to be a strong believer in developing a positive team culture, where my team members and I support each other's performance and foster a positive environment in which we can all succeed.  I have found my most enduring friendships have been built through playing golf either competitively or casually.  I love working on each aspect of my game in detail, and find a great deal of satisfaction in being able to bring the component parts together, and execute well during a match.  I find this makes the long hours of focused practice all worth it.

I also find the hours of practice both on the course a cathartic mix of my favourite pastime, a focused mental challenge and great physical exercise.

Academically, it is very important that I am able to reach my potential in a college environment that prioritises rigorous study as well as my athletic endeavours.  Following the standardised GCSE exams in the UK (in 2023), I opted to pursue the International Baccalaureate programme for the next two years, to enable continued study across a broad range of subjects (as opposed to the more traditional A-Levels in the UK).

I intend to pick a major which covers one or both of my strongest subjects from this programme, which are Economics and History. Economics is what my Mother studied at university, and Maths is what my Father specialised in. Success in my academic studies are of paramount importance, to provide a solid foundation for whatever follows college, regardless of whether or not my future career is centred around golf.

  • For the second year in a row we made the national finals. To do this we had to beat 4 teams in our region, to progress to the regional finals. We won our regional finals to advance to the national finals. The national finals were held at the prestigious Royal Ashdown Forest. In this event we had 2 matches in our group stage, of which me and my partner won both to reach the final for the second time in the schools history. The final included some great golf, me and my partner won the playoff hole, making us national champions for the first time in the schools history, since the competition started in 1981. The event started off with over 80 schools from England Scotland and Wales. Highlights from our tournament include a 4 under par first round to beat the no.3 ranked school in the UK 3&2.
  • Camp/Event
  • HMC foursomes, regional qualifying

  • Once again through beating 5 schools in the east side of our region, we qualified for the regional finals. The regional finals took place on Tuesday the 7th of may, in which me and my partner along with all other pairings won our matches coming down the stretch. This means that for the second year running we have qualified for the finals in July, between 8 schools from England and Scotland.

  • HMC foursomes finals
  • 7/01/23 to 7/03/23
  • Through beating 5 schools in our region, we made it to the regional qualifying finals, in which we won our matches propelling us to the National finals. The national finals took place between 8 schools from England and Scotland, of whom had been narrowed down from over 90. Me and my partner won all 3 of our group stage matches, which resulted in us making it to the final 2. Unfortunately we came just short of the national title, however, this was the first time in the schools history we had made it to the final two.
