Personal Statement
My collegiate goals reflect my strong desire to fulfil my potential in both my academics and my golfing career.
My parents have taught me to be a strong believer in developing a positive team culture, where my team members and I support each other's performance and foster a positive environment in which we can all succeed. I have found my most enduring friendships have been built through playing golf either competitively or casually. I love working on each aspect of my game in detail, and find a great deal of satisfaction in being able to bring the component parts together, and execute well during a match. I find this makes the long hours of focused practice all worth it.
I also find the hours of practice both on the course a cathartic mix of my favourite pastime, a focused mental challenge and great physical exercise.
Academically, it is very important that I am able to reach my potential in a college environment that prioritises rigorous study as well as my athletic endeavours. Following the standardised GCSE exams in the UK (in 2023), I opted to pursue the International Baccalaureate programme for the next two years, to enable continued study across a broad range of subjects (as opposed to the more traditional A-Levels in the UK).
I intend to pick a major which covers one or both of my strongest subjects from this programme, which are Economics and History. Economics is what my Mother studied at university, and Maths is what my Father specialised in. Success in my academic studies are of paramount importance, to provide a solid foundation for whatever follows college, regardless of whether or not my future career is centred around golf.
