Personal Statement
Personal statement + Golf Scores (at the bottom)
Golf to me is more than a sport; it's a life reflection of my dedication, passion, and growth. During my early years in this world, I learned to walk and grip a golf club simultaneously. Every time I stand on a tee, I don't just see a fairway, but a path of self-discovery that has transformed me over the years.
Throughout my journey, I've experienced triumphs and setbacks, all contributing to my development as an athlete and as a person. I can describe myself in three words: "brave, committed, and kind." In 2008, my family and I moved to a small town called Sierra de los Padres, just 30 minutes away from the bustling city of Mar del Plata. Right in front of our new home, there was a golf course. Every day, my sisters and I could see kids playing golf, and it intrigued us. My sisters asked our parents if we could give it a try, and that's where it all began.
At that time, I was only 2, almost 3 years old, and I can still remember the feeling of playing with plastic clubs. Once I started playing in tournaments, something clicked within me. I discovered my love for golf and the excitement of competition. I began traveling all over my country, visiting different golf courses and meeting amazing people. My family and I learned that golf could open doors to a unique opportunity: studying and building a better future in the United States. This understanding ignited a dream within me when I was just 10 years old: playing golf in the United States while pursuing my education.
In the middle of elementary school, I made a life-changing decision: I switched schools to create time for golf practice in the afternoons. I left behind family and friends' gatherings, knowing that this sacrifice was essential to reach my dream. I even started taking individual English classes in the evenings to improve my language skills. My days became a whirlwind: school in the morning, golf practice in the afternoon, and English classes at night. All this hard work was driven by the unwavering support of my parents and their belief in my dream.
My older sisters serve as my inspiration. They shared the same dream and both studied in the United States thanks to golf. My sister Malena went to OJC and Coe College, and my sister Pilar to NC State University. To gain experience and showcase my skills on an international stage, my parents took me to various tournaments across the country and the world. Each step was a piece of the puzzle, bringing me closer to my goal.
My greatest aspiration is to become a professional golfer and represent my country with the highest standards and strongest values. As a student-athlete, I understand the value of education that goes beyond the classroom. My commitment to maintaining a strong GPA in a finance program reflects my dedication to my golf game. The prospect of joining a golf program excites me not only for the opportunity to elevate my skills under expert guidance but also for the chance to positively contribute to the team dynamic.
This journey has been about pursuing dreams, working hard, and making sacrifices. From watching kids play golf outside my window to pursuing my passion across borders, every step has been worth it. And I am determined to continue this path, following in the footsteps of my sisters and reaching for the stars.
