Personal Statement
Since I was young I was always involved in sports. By age ten I decided to fully dedicate my time to only one sport, golf. Being a student athlete is hard, especially if you are an international. I was born on the island of Craçao, and I have lived the last ten years in Bogota. I attend an international school here in Bogota, Colombia (Colegio Nueva Granada). I speak three languages, Spanish, Dutch and English and learning a fourth at one at school, Mandarin. I maintain a spot on the honor roll with a 3.56 GPA and take several AP courses. This is probably due to my family environment where my mother is a teacher in languages and literature, and my father is a chemical and industrial engineer. This is why my career interest are engineering and business. I am very dedicated to my sport as well. I train six days a week, two hours a day on weekdays, and 4 hours on weekends. I believe I would be a great candidate for a sports scholarship, due to my high academics and sports performance. I am very excited to start this new path, to become a college athlete, and I hope that this dream will be fulfilled. I play mostly on short narrow courses with a lot of wind. My precision and short game are my strengths. Thanks for taking your time to read this brief summary. Erik
