Personal Statement

My name is Esteban Jaramillo, I have played golf since I was 4 years old but my real passion was tennis. However, when I was 9, I started playing golf tournaments and practicing everyday, so I quit tennis. Since that day until now I've been practicing and playing tournaments so I can make improvements on my game every single day. My goal is to play in the PGA tour, and I am determined to work as hard as I can to be able to beat my idols. I am a very dedicated and disciplined in both golf and in school. School is something I do very well at, and it gives me like skills I want to have As I reach my ultimate goal, which is playing in the PGA tour. As a golfer I am characterized by my mental toughness, which is something I consider more important that any aspect of the swing. I an completely sure, at this point, I am not nowhere near my full potential, and I am also sure I will never reach that full potential because I will always do my absolute best to get better every time I have a golf club in my hand.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Disney Junior Invitational
  • 6/19/16 to 8/20/16
  • Course yardage: 6700 On the first day I shot a 1 under 71 with two birdies and 1 bogey on a challenging course, but at the same time it was a course right for the distance I had. On the second day I shot a 3 under 69 to win the 13-19 division by shots.
  • Camp/Event
  • Serie faldo South American championship
  • 6/02/16 to 6/04/16
  • Course yardage: 6900 On the first day of the championship I shot a 5 over 77 in a very tough and long course which resulted in tie for the lead in m division and and a tie for 5th in the 14-19 division which included some of south american highest ranked amateurs in the wagr. On the second day I shot a 4 under 68 in some tough conditions which included wind and lots of rain, that round was the best of the day, and do to that i was solo in the lead in my division with an advantage of ten points, meanwhile on the 14-19 division I moved up to second place trailing the leader by three. The las day was suspended do to floods, so I finished first in my division and second in the 14-19 division.
  • Camp/Event
  • Copa Arturo Calle
  • 3/31/16 to 4/02/16
  • This was the first time I played in this age division which was 15 to 18 years old, the course wasn't in great shape the greens had recently developed a fungus, and there where now where near full recovery. On the first day I didn't start playing my best golf which was something I couldn't afford taking into the account i was playing in a long course, on the back nine I played a little better, which resulted in a sloppy 6 over 78. On the second day I played much better I shot even par with 18 straight pars, which was extremely annoying since the condition of the greens made it really tough to make anything inside 20 feet. The last day my game was no were near good, I was completely out of rhythm, with every club but by being patient and by staying focused I was able to lower the damage to a six over 78. At the end I finished tied for 13 out of 65 people.
  • Camp/Event
  • Internacional del militar
  • 2/12/16 to 2/14/16
  • The first day of the tournament I played nicely on the first nine holes but then had some major problems on the back nine which resulted in a 76 with wasn't that bad compared the leaders that where at 1 over 73. The second day I shot 34(2 under) in the first nine, and a 5 under 31 to shoot 65. Heading to the third day i shot a 77 which wasn't my best day but considering the course conditions it was okay. I ended winning by 8 shots.
  • Camp/Event
  • Club Colombia Championship presented by Claro
  • 2/04/16 to 2/07/16
  • This was my first time playing in a web. com tour event, I was the youngest in the field and the youngest male to ever compete in a pga tour event. On Thursday I was not able ti play do to inclement weather, so I had to play on Friday 36 holes where I shot 75 and 74 which didn't made the cut.
