Personal Statement
My Instagram is dubai_golfer. I’m Max, I am 18years old and have lived in the Middle East for 9 years. I attend a British school in Dubai on a full Sports and Academic Scholarship. My converted grades at this time would be a minimum 3.5 GPA and I have taken one SAT this year at 980. I take my studies and academics seriously and would like to pursue courses related to Business, Finance and Management in College.
I began playing Golf 8 years ago and realised that it was a game that required a lot of practice, focus and commitment to enjoy. I am a member at Jumeirah Golf Estates and an academy member at the European Tour Performance Institute where i have individual coaching lessons. As a junior I have shot numerous sub par rounds including a gross 66 to win the YAS Links (Abu Dhabi) U18’s Open in 2018 age 14.
I have competed in events in many countries to gain experience on different courses, grasses, and weather conditions including America, Indonesia, Singapore, India and all across Europe. I qualified for the US Kids Golf at Pinehurst 2017 finishing 2nd shooting 3 sub par rounds on Pinehurst No5. I was then part of the winning International team in the Van Horn Trophy on Pinehurst No2 winning my individual game 6&5. I have won the United Arab Emirates U18 Order of Merit on 2 occasions, this is played over the season on 12 courses, many of which are Tour courses.
I have been working harder than ever over the last 12 months to develop my game and build a swing that can take me to the next level required for college and hopefully beyond, playing adult competitions whenever. Golf has taught me so much as a teenager, it is a game that pushes your mental strength and resilience every day and every round and makes you accountable.
I know that the college that I attend will demand that i push myself on the golf course and in the classroom academically, this does not phase me as i have a strong work ethic in both areas and have good organisational and time management skills. I want to find a college that will get the best out of me as a student and athlete to use as a springboard for the future.
