Personal Statement
I discovered golf at a young age and was totally drawn to the sport. I believe that golf has influenced my life hugely, teaching me dedication and a “never give up” attitude. Throughout the many challenges I have faced in a country fraught with problems, I have learned patience and determination.
I wish to study, along with playing golf, and am very interested in sports psychology having been through some personal challenges of my own which I can apply to real life.
Throughout my time playing golf I have represented my country as well as captained it to victory in the 2019 Tri Nations event. I have received awards at my high school including one of the highest honours, Full Colours, last year.
Naturally, one must mention that 2020 has brought many challenges with all tournaments cancelled and even golf courses closed for a prolonged period of time. I have managed to keep playing some competitive golf on Fridays with the Zimbabwean Professionals who encourage and advise me on how they have competed throughout their professional lives. This has kept me motivated and gives me the edge for the time when I will compete again.
I remain dedicated to my sport and motivated to continuously improve myself and have not given up.
