Shan Jiang '27 Recruiting Profile

 Hi I'm Shan, but my preferred name is Sam and I live way down in New Zealand. I started golf at the age of 5, however I have only started to take it seriously since July 2022. My high school graduation year is 2027 and I'm 14 years old. I have a lot of goals lined up for the future, here are some of them: 

1. I want to be the number 1 player in Wellington by the end of 2024.

2. Make it into Wellington's tier 1 travel team that competes in tournaments all around New Zealand and win in everyone of those tournaments.

3. I want to go to a college that has an amazing golf team and coach, perform well and help win a championship.

4. After college I aim to get on the PGA Tour and become a major winner by the time I'm 24.

 I'm looking for a team, coach and program that suits me well, but I can also adapt and overcome things that come my way. I used to swim in a competitive team from the ages of 7 - 12, so I'm very experienced being in a team for a sport that isn't usually known to have teams, so I think my knowledge will transfer well to golf. I have already started playing representative golf for Wellington as well. 

I know the stresses of being a student - athlete. However I am excellent with time management and also keeping on top of assignments and class as I excel in academics as well. All my grades are top of the class and I try to enter as many competitions as I possibly can as I'm always trying to get better. I am an extremely hard working and dedicated person. Many people, including my coach, have commented that I'm the only junior they see practicing every single day no matter the weather because the weather can get pretty nasty in Wellington sometimes. 

Overall I think I am a great fit for your team because I am dedicated to learning and improving my game, I have experience being in teams, I am top ranked in my class academically and I love to compete in teams.
