Personal Statement
My name is Luyanda Mdanda. I plan to study Computer Engineering as well as compete amongst the best varsity golfers in United States. I hope to honour my role as responsible student-athlete by producing high quality work in class as well as competitive result on course. Balancing these two will be a priority in my Varsity years and I am willing to make the neccessary sacrifices to make the most of my college years.
I have worked diligently and consistently to secure my position in my schools academic Top 10 as well as in multiple provincial and national golf events such as SA Boys u19. My mature understanding of the importance of individual image has helped me manage my social and competitive obligations as a member of the Ernie Els and Fancourt Foundation. I have also proven a valuable team assets. Be it a position of Leadership, Beaulieu College Golf Captain, or that of a team mate, CGGU U19 Team.
Even though I have only played golf for 3 years, The vast improvement in my game is due to my smart work ethic. I believe that a level of consistent and competitive golf can only be reached by critically analysing the mental, physical and technical aspect of my game.
My intentional experiences in competitions like the European Championship 2014 as well as the Kids Golf World Championship Malaysia 2013 have exposed to global levels of competition and have proven that I can compete amongst the best in the world. I have also participated in University Level training at the High Performance Training at the University of Pretoria so I have a good indication to the amount of work required on fitness, mental endurance, course management, stratergy and technical movement to become a competetive golfer.
I am ready for the opportunity to make the most out of my golf and academic career.
