Personal Statement
I am writing to apply for a spot on your prestigious university golf team. My name is Mohamed Yassine RAFI, an 18-year-old Moroccan golf player with a deep passion for the game. Joining your top-ranked university and golf team would be an exceptional opportunity for me, providing a high level of education and sports capacity that will give me a competitive edge and help me achieve my dream of playing on the PGA Tour.
My journey in golf began at an early age of 10 when I first walked on a golf course with my father. It has been my dream to see my name and university logo on the leaderboards next to other players. I have already won several junior tournaments, including ranking 2nd individual and 1st in team in the Pan Arab Games at Dreamland Golf Resort (Cairo, Egypt) in 2019. Additionally, I was ranked 3rd in team at All Africa Junior in Phakalane Golf Estate (Gaborone, Botswana) the same year. I practice four times a week while balancing my school work and daily during my vacations.
Despite the restrictions related to COVID 19, I continued to train both physically and mentally as all tournaments scheduled in 2020 and 2021 were canceled. I also organized some club tournaments for other juniors in my city, where I beat my personal record by playing a 65 (-7) on a 7000-yard course. Furthermore, I have managed to maintain excellent grades (A) at Agadir International French High School (SAT score 1170) and scored 88 on the TOEFL.
