My name is Jordan Even and I have always enjoyed playing sports. I have played on competitive baseball, soccer, and hockey teams since I was 5 years old. I have always enjoyed golf but only started to develop my skills 3 years ago when I decided I wanted to play golf in high school. I have come a long way in three years through hard work and dedication. I love the game of golf and I feel I have the right demeanor for the sport. I manage the course well and I don’t let one bad shot affect the rest of my game. I made the freshman team and was named MVP at the end of the season. By my sophomore year I was playing Varsity and now my senior year I am the captain and low scorer on our team. I was able to help my team make it to the State tournament both my sophomore and junior years. Previous to this my high school had not made it to state in 14 years. I am hoping to make it a 3 peat this year!
In order to concentrate more on golf I gave up baseball this year. It was a hard decision but I believe it has paid off. I have played in over 20 tournaments this summer and have placed in the top 3 in most of them. I have also starting working with a swing coach and I have found his insight and advice very beneficial. The highlight of my summer was winning the Cedar Rapids Rotary Pribyl golf tournament. I played against 70 golfers, several of these golfers already have Division I scholarships. I shot a 297 over 4 days on 4 different courses. I attribute my win to my consist play shooting 75, 74, 74, and 74 in the tournament.
My next goal is to play golf in college. I am looking for a college or university that will provide me with a great education and a golf program that will help me to continue to improve my game. I am a good student with a 3.34 GPA and I have taken many advance level courses.
