Personal Statement

I am currently a Junior, attending Southeast of Saline High School in Gypsum Kansas. I rank within the top 25 in my class, with a G.P.A. of 3.67 out of 4. I am 5’9” and weigh 132 lbs.

I have always been close to the First Tee program, as I was once a student, and am now a Coach. I love the environment that we as coaches try to make for the kids and I hold strongly to the belief that if my coaches weren't as enthusiastic and caring as they were when I was a student, I wouldn't have the same love for the game that I do now. I want to spark a love for the game of golf in our students much like my coaches did for me. Through this program I have learned many values such as Honesty, Integrity, Responsibility, Respect, Courtesy, Sportsmanship, Judgment, Perseverance, and Confidence. These are what we call our core values. I make it a goal to include a variety of these values into every session with the kids, and every training session I have.

My strengths include iron and wedge play. My goals for this year include improving my consistency in scoring, along with committing to a more process-oriented style of play. I hold strong to many of Gary Player's main points in fitness as I do yoga for 30-40 minutes a day along with a work-out program 3 days a week. I also make sure to get chiropractic adjustments at least once a week to keep my spine as healthy as it can be, for as long as possible.

Even though my account says I am interested in a medical/business career, I am also considering going down the same path as my coach, Randy Syring, who is in the Golf Hall of Fame, and is currently a collegiate coach.

As much as I know I can stand out on the course, I also know I can stand out in the classroom. I want to take my passion for golf as far as I can, and I am willing to go above and beyond both on and off the course. I am looking to be part of a competitive golf program with a coach who can help me get to the next level.

I look forward to hearing from you and want to further discuss potential playing opportunities in 2024 and beyond.

Regards,

Dylan Esch

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • U.S. Kids (4th)
  • 9/23/23 to 9/23/23
  • I carded a 73 (1+). Struck the ball well with a few errant tee balls. I went three under through four and ended the front nine at two under par. I had a rough back nine and a few bad breaks. Kept calm and implemented a resilient mindset throughout the whole round.
  • Camp/Event
  • Salina County Junior Championship (1st)
  • 8/07/23 to 8/09/23
  • Carded a 214 (74 +3, 69 -1, 71 E). Didn’t hit the ball well all week, still figured out how to score well. I played the last two days with a low grade fever and only hit four GIR’S the second day. While I’m not proud of that stat, I am proud of my ability to get up and down in order to still shoot an under par round. Putted well all three days.
  • Camp/Event
  • Kansas Junior Amateur
  • 6/12/23 to 6/15/23
  • I carded a 74 in the first round, hit just over fifty percent of fairways and around sixty percent of greens. Shot 70 the second day, hit around sixty percent of fairways and 15/18 greens. Shot 79 the final day, hit the ball about the same as the days prior but wasn’t as mentally resilient. Very pleased with how I hit the ball, this tournament highlighted some of the things I need to improve on.
  • Camp/Event
  • Kansas City Junior Championship
  • 6/05/23 to 6/06/23
  • I Carded 73-74, shooting 147. Placed T12, 8 back from the lead. I was sitting at right around 70 percent of greens and fairways both days. Struck the ball well, struggled to get up and down occasionally. Mental resilience played a huge part in this tournament.
  • Camp/Event
  • 3A State Tournament (4th)
  • 5/22/23 to 5/23/23
  • I placed 4th carding a 75 (4+) on the first day, and a 73 (2+) on the second day. Struggled to hit fairways on the first day but recovered around the greens. I scrambled really well and handled everything on the mental side very well. 148 (6+) on the tournament.
  • Camp/Event
  • Hesston Invitational (5th)
  • 4/27/23 to 4/27/23
  • Nice conditions, played on punched greens. I carded a 71 (E). Struggled to hit fairways; 11 GIR’S.
  • Camp/Event
  • Sacred Heart Invitational (2nd)
  • 4/13/23 to 4/13/23
  • Very windy and hot conditions as well as Aerified greens (holes punched the day prior to tournament); Carded a 75; struggled to hit fairways but scrambled really well and was solid around the greens.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2023 Chapman Invitational (1st)
  • 4/11/23 to 4/11/23
  • Hot and windy conditions; Carded a two over 74 to win the tournament; Struggled to hit fairways, 29 putts, 14 GIR's.
  • Camp/Event
  • US Kids Local Tour (3rd)
  • 9/10/22 to 10/16/22
  • I placed 3rd in the overall season points standings with 77.50 points.
  • Camp/Event
  • Salina County Junior (1st)
  • 8/09/22 to 8/10/22
  • I won the County Junior going 73-74. Good competition and great playing conditions.
  • Camp/Event
  • Oklahoma Teen Series (T-2)
  • 7/10/22 to 7/11/22
  • 2022 Teen Series runner-up. Junior Golf Scoreboard and AJGA ranked tournament, tough competition and windy conditions. Two day tournament scores of 76-75.

Training

  • Training with Randy Syring
  • 2 years
  • I started training with Randy in 2021. Since then we have kept a consistent and effective training schedule that has allowed me time to work on key points of the lesson, and improve on a consistent basis.
