I started swinging a golf club when I was young but because I played hockey and lacrosse I did not have time to spend on the golf course. It wasn’t until the summer before my freshman year of high school that I realized my love for the game and took golf more seriously. I joined a local golf club and spent my summer there. That August I played in one of my first local tournaments, I shot a 79 and won. Since then I have been focused on improving my game. The next summer I played in seven NEPGA Jr tournaments and had some good results, winning two and placing tied for 2nd in another. Last winter I began training with Chris Carpenter at Carpenter Golf and worked on my swing, putting, and chipping. Last summer I joined two golf courses and spent as much time as I could on the course. As a result of my hard work, my junior high school season went well and I qualified as an individual for the Massachusetts Division 1 State Championship. Over the past two years I progressed from shooting high 80s/ low 90s to shooting in the 70s at most of the tournaments I compete in. My goal during the next year and a half of high school is to develop both my academics and my golf skills to enable me to continue on at the college level.
