One of my earliest memories is of being on the golf course with my father and attempting to play like him. Even at that young age, I loved being on the course. As I grew older, I came to understand and appreciate golf more, leading me to participate in tournaments and tours. In middle school, I became increasingly serious about golf and participated in more competitions such as the Top50 Jr Tour, where the competitive spirit that I had developed through swimming in my early years until then helped push my competitiveness to the next level. I believe that competition is a critical factor in improving myself in anything that I do, and in golf, competition allowed me to grow and develop into a better golfer and an even better person by teaching me various life skills. Through competition, I also learned the benefit of perseverance; as I competed in golf, my scores were not what I knew I could get, but as a result of my tenacity, I reached the point where I am now. Listening to my coaches has allowed my game to continuously improve, which enabled me to join the Varsity team at Troy Athens High School in my freshman year where I became the captain in my junior year. Here, I learned that even though golf seems like an individual sport, making connections, listening and sharing experiences, and learning with my team makes golfing more enjoyable and improves my own game in a way that is different from playing alone. Golf has also taught me the importance of integrity and accountability as this is a very important aspect of the game. I always strive to have good sportsmanship because it is very important in golf and in life as healthy competition is crucial to success. After playing golf for many years and gaining so much from it, it has become an integral part of my life. The one place I can always be found is on the golf course or at the range and putting green, striving to improve my game and making me a better person.
