I am currently finishing my sophomore year of high school and have played varsity golf in 9th and 10th grade. Last year, I was the 5th player on a team that finished 5th at the state meet and this year am playing third on a the team. We just won regionals and are vying for the state title this year! We golfed an all time low school score of 309 at our last meet. Some interesting things about me are that my high school is extremely small and to have enough players to keep sports teams going, I dual sport in the spring. I am also a starter on the varsity baseball team (left handed pitcher and outfield) and we are ranked 9th in the state right now, and currently competing in regional playoffs. This means that I attend two practices daily, 4-5 competitions per week, and sometimes move from a golf match during the day to a double header baseball game the same night. This has taught me to be extremely disciplined and manage my time well. I am carrying a 3.98 unweighted GPA in the most challenging courses a sophomore can take in our district and am two years ahead in math (taking pre-calc this year). I find that I actually do best when under pressure and challenged, in both athletics and academics. My coaches and friends describe me as "very chill", which I think helps me on the golf course and on the pitching mound. Although I am probably one of the more quiet people on teams (I also a starter on our varsity soccer team in the fall), I am confident and just really want to keep getting better. I have only golfed competitively for two years, this year and last, and thus feel like I'm still learning a ton, open to new ideas, and coachable. I want to play college golf because I love the sport...it's like a puzzle to me...a little like an engineering challenge, and because I can't imagine not being part of a team. My teammates are my best friends. In my free time, I love to restore old cars. I just finished a 1969 Firebird this winter and just the sound of it makes me smile. I will be playing in my first golf tournaments, through AJGA, outside of our school team this summer and can't wait!
