Ever since I was 5, I have loved to play the game of golf. It never dawned on me until a couple months ago that I might actually have a future playing this great game. Freshman year I was able to make Varsity, although this was a great accomplishment for me, I did not perform well at all keeping a scoring average of around an 88. While my freshman year was a struggle, it taught me many things about the mental game and how important it is to stay composed on the course. Along with this, it gave me valuable experience at the Varsity level that helped me improve for my sophomore year. Sophomore year my scoring average decreased by 8 shots to around 80. I struggled at the beginning of the season but was able to do well towards the end. I ended up missing states by 1 shot which is a very long story that will boggle your mind, but all in all sophomore year was pretty good. This summer, however, has been a different story. I have decided to quit basketball and focus 100% on golf,. This has made a huge difference for me this summer as I am practicing golf every day at Barton Hills CC. My tournament scoring average this summer is already 4 shots lower than during the school season. My hope by the end of the summer is to be very close to scratch golf and have a scoring average around 73.
My parents ever since I can remember have been really strict about school, this has led me to push myself as a student in order to reach their high standards. After I graduate college, I have a dream of becoming a golf course architect. My goal by the end of high school is to have at least a 3.8 GPA and to not record below a B+ in any class that I decide to take. My college academic aspiration is to study landscape architecture and balance my schooling as well as I can with golf. When it comes down to it my education will override any amount of golf that I can play.
